    JD 420 Gas Cap

    Gas cap leaks gas if I fill tank more than half way full. I have bent the tangs (?) and replaced the rubber gasket, even doubled up with 2 gaskets. Cap is what I call a top hat shape. Will a replacement cap solve this problem?

    420 JD Under Load

    My recently purchased 420 while going up a steep hill runs fine as long as RPM is under 1300. Minute I raise RPM higher while still going up hill tractor skips and sputters. Plugs look fine but I will replace with new. Any suggestions are welcomed.

    JD 420 Clutch Adjustment

    I have 5-6 inches free pedal before clutch engages. Operators manual states to loosen clutch adjustment lock nut and turn adjusting bolt counter clockwise to reduce free pedal to around 1 inch. Had to use lock pliers to turn adjustment did so until it stopped. Still had too much free pedal...

    Muffler exits out to the side of the hood via elbow from exhaust manifold. Need to replace elbow due to rust. Does anyone know where I can locate a replacement? Just got the tractor.

    Axle Nut Tightening

    What is the proper procedure for tightening front wheel axle nuts. The cotter pin hole is outside of the axle nut notches. If I align the cotter pin with a nut notch there is no compression on the wheel bearing.
