    7520 steering

We had the steering cylinders rebuilt by a hydraulic shop due to one being scored and leaking badly. While they were off, it was in the way so we started it up and backed it up out of the shed (50 feet) and shut it off. We then seen that it was pumping oil out of one of the lines that went to...

Deere 40 vs 90 series corn heads

Is there any difference in the gearbox? Was going to put straight flute rolls on our 643 but have heard it will be to hard on the gearbox? Just an extra set of roll pins was all that I was aware of being different? Hoping for sunshine... corns still at 25% Thanks Mitch

Getting flashers on head on 9500

Going to get the flashers hooked up on the ends of our flex head and realized the combine, early 9500, don't have and wires for flashers in the harness along the feeder house. If you were in my shoes where would you look to tap into the combine harness to find power to send down to the head...

    Deere snapping rolls

Wondering which I should order and why? Need new rolls for our 643 head and see I can get either straight or tapered rolls, it has tapered on it now but the stalks all deadhead on the top before getting pulled through so time for new ones. Looked for answers on google but they think I should go...

    1020 Hyd problems....

Bought a 1020 with a loud (squeal) noise from the pump but everything worked like it should so wasn't overly concerned. The noise wasn't constant and seems to be getting less frequent. It goes away when running a hydraulic motor off the scv and when the clutch (2 stage) is pressed all the way...

    1020 loose steering

Working on 1020 that has about 1/3 turn in the wheel before anything happens. the wheel goes up and down as turned and is the same running as it is shut off. It is inside the steering unit as the arm coming down to the drag link don't even move, and it is tight on the splines. The archives don't...

Took our 7520 for a test drive after the clutch job, it was outside running about a half hour then drove it awhile. Turned into the driveway and oil started spraying out from up front so got it into the shop (while leaving a big trail) shut it off and looked for a blown hose or something but saw...

Can a turbo be bad if...

Talking to the guy who runs the machine shop in town and he said that he has seen where a new turbo will improve a tractors performance even if the current turbo is putting out the rated boost psi.... Don't make sense to me how that could be? Anyone have any insight on this?

2955 Leak off hose goes where?

On our 2955 with cab there is the small 5/16 hose that runs back from the cooler/ reservoir in front and is broke off and dangling by the starter. Cant seem to see where it hooks into on the back end after a lot of time spent looking. Anybody able to narrow it down some? Thanks Mitch

    JD 643 snapping rolls

Wondering how to gauge weather our rolls are too "experienced" as it seems the majority of the stalks get very close to the top of the deck plates before the ear gets snapped off.

    Setting JD 55 for wheat

I think this may be the year the 55eb finally gets put to work in some wheat that the neighbor has. Main question is what should my cylinder speed be? Currently it is at 619rpm and the manual has a rather wide range of settings for it and well changing sprockets is not as easy as a variable...

    2755 Hydraulic chatter

Put the 2755 on the auger to fill the feed bin and it couldn't even get the auger lifted up (hydraulic winch) to the bin without chattering and having to stop/start a couple times. I knew we had this problem as we could never run the fertilizer auger to fill the corn planter but that normally...

Thinking about getting a new to us gator and wondering about the 625i model. Friend had a 620 and said it got gas in the oil and was common for that model. Does the 625 have that problem too or was it resolved? Currently have a HPX so there is room for improvement in ride comfort

    531Head swap

Just wondering if a 531 head can be replaced by a 619 8630 head? Just trying to broaden our options when searching for a new head since 7520 and 6030's aren't the most plentiful in junkyards.

    Inj pump timming

With the pump marks lined up properly (27* BTDC) the tractor smokes excessively when accelerating and when out working the manifold gets red within a couple minutes. Per one mechanics recommendation we moved it 6* advanced which created a slight knock/miss sound. Then went 6* retarded and had an...
