    Question about 1938 Challenger

    MH Challengers have induvial brakes. That is the left break drum. There is one, or should be, just like it on the right side. They should have sheet metal cover over them.

    Put the hose on before you bolt the radiator down. There is only about an inch to an inch and one half on any radiator on a 44 and they don't line up to start with.

    6 volt sealed beam oddity

    All of the triple series Masseys had this kind of bulb. I have opened burnt out ones and soldered in a new base for a bulb. I have 2 brand new ones.

    Serial number help

    If the serial tag is gone or unreadable the serial number is stamped on the upper top left side of the transmission/rear end housing. It is to the left of the pto lever.

    Massey Harris 22

    Todays 90 weight oil is not the same as what came in these tractors when they were new. You need to use at least 140 in the rearend and transmission. Never use a detergent oil in an old engine. It can break up sludge and plug oil passages. Use SAE 30W. This is what was in them when new.
