Questions: wrapping DRY hay (round bales, single cutting, grass w some legumes)

I have wrapped dry hay for close to 20 years now. The key is like Bruce said" let it go completely through the heat/cure cycle. What little rain you will get on the top does not effect it as much as the internal heat and moisture during curing. I have some really dry third crop orchard grass hay...

    IH 806 sleeves

We sent the injectors to a pump shop to be rebuilt. The injection pump was just done three years ago.

    IH 806 sleeves

I am trying to help a neighbor get a IH 806 running. One piston scored the sleeve really bad. So we are thinking of doing a complete overhaul. Everyone local is telling me I will need to take the block to a machine shop to get the sleeves installed. I have never done an IH dry sleeve motor but...

    485 front end loader ID

I will second finding a hydraulic repair shop and just putting a kit in your cylinders. If that is not possible then look at Bailey hydraulic for new. Also check out Surplus Center Lincoln, NE. There should be a local mechanic that would know how to take you cylinders apart and find rebuild...

Who made IH wagon running gears???

I made a round bale mover for a neighbor 10-15 years ago. He put it on an Electric running gear that has eight bolt hubs. Long story short he let the front spindles frees up and did not know it. So he hooked up to it empty and took off without looking back (stiff neck at 74 yrs old) LOL He...

    Waterloo 4040 with cab

That is about the going market for a running cab loader tractor in fair/good shape. I watched two sell last month and they both were in the low twenties without a loader. These pre-emission tractors are going crazy right now with the cattle market so high.

    Yet Another 2cyl steering thread

I would bet your problem is in the control valve. They get worn and leak internally. They then super heat the oil and the system quits working. It seems you oil is heating up pretty fast. I would go into the control valve.

    Chain coupler

I have found that just regular diesel fuel works pretty good on these type of coupler chains. Most lubricants will not stay in the chain any way and they can attract dust/grit that wears out the chains. The diesel fuel mainly cleans the chain while not usually attracting things.

JD 6715 MFWD steering cylinder reseal?

You take the fitting that is the furthest away from the ram out of the cylinder. The push the ram down to where you can see the bottom of the ram through the fitting hole. There is a snap ring you flip off into a lower diameter. That will allow the ram to be pulled out of the cylinder. JD has...

    JD 2955 hydraulic problems

If you have a valve on the right hand side that a cable controlled joystick operates, that is were you need to switch the hoses. Where it is fed at the rear SVC is just a supply and return. If that supply was the issue both bucket and lift cylinders would be effected the same

Silos I also am not DB Jim

One thought that often goes through my mind is that things today seem old and have no value, were someone's "Dream" when they were built. I bet that was "state of the art" when it was new.

Correct sheen of black paint for plow

If your talking about the black backs of the bottoms and hitch parts then Blitz black. If your wanting to paint the wear side of the plow then the soft black coating is made for that, as it will wear off quickly when the plows are used.

John Deere 24t plunger head safety stop

Then the needle frame is not locked into the home position. That lock is to protect the needles. Your flywheel shear pin may not be the only pin sheared. There is one on the needle lift linkage. Also the pin may have sheared due to the plunger pulling hard and the knotters may have tripped at...

John Deere 24t plunger head safety stop

Bob has it correct. The needle frame holds the stop out of the bale chamber. As soon as the needle frame move forward to start making a knot the stop enters the bale chamber. This is to stop the plunger hitting the needles while they are in the chamber. The needle can get out of time or shear a...

    IH 806 diesel engine

A good friend locked his IH 806 last fall running a 13 inch grain auger. What else used the D361 diesel motor. The rest of the tractor is not worth a total rebuild but maybe worth a used engine. I have not found any good tractor motors.

I own my Grand Father's 1971 JD 4020 it has 7200 original hours on it. It has never set outside over night since he bought it new. His brother bought a 1972 JD 4320 as he wanted the extra horsepower and turbo. I was able to buy it off him when he moved into an assisted living condo. He would...

Oliver 1650 high speed serial/model numbers

I know that some of the Oliver 1650s had a faster or lower rear end ratio. I used to have the information that listed the numbers to look for. I can not find that information now. I have found an Oliver 1650 with a blown motor. The owner said he though it had the faster drive line in it. I...
