woods belly mower on an 8N

It is a taper lock bushing. My thought was, If I turned the bushing down a little, when I tighten the two together it wouldnt crack again. I have not measured anything yet so I dont know what I would take off. Why would it fit so tight that it breaks? The bushing has relief cuts in it to allow...

woods belly mower on an 8N

I wont use it cracked, The crack is just by the keyway. With the bushing out, the crack closes up tight. The outside where the belt runs is not cracked.

woods belly mower on an 8N

I have a woods belly mower (L59 I believe). I was putting the sheave onto the PTO and while tightining it to the bushing, the sheave cracked along the key way. I think this is made out of cast iron. Would it be safe to have it welded? Does anyone have one they may want to sell?

    1950 8N brakes

I Have not had it apart but do want to get it fixed. The brake will lock up from time to time while you are moving if you happen to touch the pedal accidentally. It dont take much movement in the pedal to have this happen. I have a belly mower that I will be putting on and mowing 3 acres. I dont...

    1950 8N brakes

    1950 8N brakes

What would cause a brake to lock up? The right brake will lock up if you touch the pedal sometimes. If you step on it a couple times or reach down and pull up on it, then it is fine. It does not do it every time. You can also put it in reverse for a foot or two and that also releases it. The...

Found a problem today, Small needle under the nozzle in the carb. Took it out and now it runs fine. The FO4 manual shows it in there but a fried who works on carbs didnt know why it was needed. For some reason this would allow you to remove the main adjustment needle from the carb and the...

    8N with no power ( update )

Ok, Checked the wires and they were good. Checked the point gap and was a little small so I adjusted them. Checked gas flow coming out of the carb, Looked good to me, I dont know how it should be but I would say it was coming out as strong as it is from the gas line. This helped as I was able to...
