1010 crawler

How much of a job is it to repair the steering clutches on a 1010 crawler? Also are the clutches expensive to repair?

This is what the clutch plates cost at A&I. Crawler requires either 7 or 8 plates of each part number depending on SN. The SN break is 31000

It's not that bad of a job if you have the right tools. Air wrench, bigger sockets and wrenches. I used a tranny jack to hold and move the final drive on mine. Might just as well change the bearings, brake pad and throw out bearing, and seals when your in there, then make sure you adjust it according to the book.

In my experience it winds up being an awful job.
The expense of the steering clutches is only part of the issue. As you take things apart you're apt to find many missing, stripped, and/or broken bolts as you dig into it. Often there seems to be no end to it. Once the track is off, you'll probably find some bad rollers also. I just got done doing my 1010. It took many, many hours to do it all right.

I agree with you LJD, it is a "Pandora's Box",,I went through the 2010 (slightly different) clutch and track frame that I used as a Donor for my 60C, what a nite mare that was, rust, bad bearings and broken bolts...
