1066 lift arm fix?

I have a 1973 model 1066. When backing up with my scraper blade attached, and the blace hits a hump, the shaft that is connected to the lift arm control inside the tractor, jumps over the shaft that actually raises the hydraulics for the lift arms. The only solution is to remove the 6 bolts on the cover that the turnbuckle is attached to, get inside the tractor, and re-arrange the 2 shafts in their proper arrangement.

Has anyone tried to have a different shaft machined that would prevent this from occuring? Surely these tractors are old, and I believe that many of the models built around the same time as mine are prone to this problem...

If it is jumping off on the case side i have welded a heavy fender washer on the lever comming up from the bottom and this has work on the ones that i have fixed . I used a Mig weld for this as less slag and the filter will take care of any bee bee's . Yea they were just used to much when new .

On my tractor, you really wouldn't need to weld it inside the tractor. The part is easy to take off. It is attached to the main shaft with a pin and cotter pin. My thinking was to just have a longer one made. It's not really worn, just as I see it, a design flaw. I just dont know if making that shaft longer would fix the problem. Thanks.

Ya weld the washer on the arm coming up fron the bottom and that one does not come out so easy and what is the big deal on running a quick pass on the inside as it will not hurt a thing. And if ya are realy worried about bee bee's then throw a cow magnit in the bottom . If ya pulled the hyd. filter out any of our tractors you will find a cow magnit setting in there next to the filter . Anyway that is how i have fixed many including my buddy's 1066 as i got tired of pullen the top link plate off. Have not had it off since .

my friend was moving round bales the other day and on about his last bale he noticed that his lift arms were all the way up and the lift control handle was in the down position. we tried to move the draft control handle from the heavy to light and it felt like it was spring loaded or something and kept returning to the heavy position. i might be backwards on the light and heavy but i mean the draft handle was was springing back to the foreward and down position. is this happening to you also.

Yes, the draft control stays in the heavy position.

I really don't know if it's slipping over the top, or the side? I like yourself am getting really tired of taking off the cover to temporarily fix it. Looking forward to fixing it for good.
