1070 vs.2090

I have a 1070 which has given good service and would like a similar size tractor for another farm that I have purchased. I was wondering if the 2090 was much of an inprovement over the earlier model? Thank you RT

As far as cab comfort, yes, the 90 series is much quieter and more comfortable. In fact, I believe the 90 series was one of the most advanced cabs of that era, and still holds up well even today. However, mechanically, the 70 series seemed much more dependable. I currently have a 1070 and, although a little loud, is mechanically as strong as any tractor that size. Don't be afraid of the 2090, just be aware that small mechanical issues are more common than on the 1070. Hope that helps.

Just will add 70 series cabs were most advanced an quiet of there day.First roll over protected cab-batteries had spill proff caps-windows would pop out an not in to cab if rolled over-cab air cleaner would self clean when you shut door an dirtwhen finally removed it was outside of cab. Bought jd38 forage chopper shortly after i bought tractor an jd salesman whike riding with me admittedthey didnt come close to comfort or room or quietness of 1070 cab!!!!!!!!

2090 has closed center hydraulics so the oil flow can be adjusted. This makes the hydraulics more complicated and needs better maintenance. 3 pt hitch is much stronger than the 1070. 2090 is heavier tractor, better cab, larger engine set at about same HP so it should stand up better. The 2090 will gell up quicker in cold weather because the fuel is sucked out the top of the tank rather than running out the bottom. Bigger radiator in the 2090. I think you would find the 1070 handier around the yard. Backing a short 4 wheel trailer with the 2090 is much more difficult than with the 1070. the 2090 is a great tractor with plenty of muscle to get the job done i say if you want it to get it my grandpa has one and 1570 and 2670 i love workin with any of them. i say go for it you cant go wrong with either series of tractor

I own both the 70 series and 90 series Both series are great tractors. The 90 series gives a better ride. And has more leg room and the cab is quieter.

my dad got a 1070 and my uncle got a 2090 off a farm in the late 80s when i was a kid. i recall the mechanic there said the 1070 was a better tractor and the last 20 years have proven this on our farms. the 2090 has had 2 rearend overhauls but it does get abused on a dairy. the 1070 is loud but is a tough s.o.b!
