135 MF Tractor Year Made

My neighbor has a 135 MF tractor (gas), it is one of the first one's made with the sq hood. What year did they start making the 135 with sq hood.

I am going to help him get it running right, tractor is hardly ever used. So you guessed it, the tractor has not been well maintained.

What engine would this tractor have, if it is an early model 135, would it have a Z134 Continental engine or what?

Thanks,

If its the squarish hood its a 135. If some other shape, its not a 135.

Up to 1968, 135 gas used the Continental. Then for a few years they used Perkins, then went back to Continental. At least this is true for those made in the USA. I don't know about production elsewhere.

If it has tachometer and several gauges its a Deluxe model and would have a Z-145. If its the Special model with few gauges it would have the Z-134. Check it for worn rocker arms, these enginse sometimes loose oil pressure to the top end and wear out those rocker arms. It is possible to rebuild them or buy a rebuilt assembly.
