does it matter if you use the LW large wire for concave type for combining wheat?

use the small wires or you will have untrashed heads in ur sample.

It is tough to get it all threshed using large wires, but corn and soybean farmers that only have a few acres of wheat do it every year. We did it a couple of years but have since started using cover plates which helps. Way too difficult to change concaves and grates for a few acres of wheat. However if wheat is the main crop, I would be installing the small wire concaves and probably the slotted grates.

Thanks for the help.Only have few acres of wheat. Do corn and beans all the time.Had some sand ground needed to help build up.Thanks JIM

We use LW concaves for all crops including spring wheat. You need 3 cover plates in the front three positions to keep wheat on the concaves long enough for a complete thresh.
