180 Massey fuel problems.

Hey I picked up a 180 today pretty cheap. Its not running but its also not getting any fuel to the injectors. I have a manual because this is my second 180. I have blead the 2 small screws on the pump and I have good fuel there squirting out with no air bubbles. But even when turning the engine over there is still no fuel at the injectors. I am thinking the injector pump is gone. Is it possible anything else could be it. Maybe a stuck shut off or something? Thanks in advance. Clyde

Clyde you might try an old trick, loosen the injector lines at the injectors and applied a little shop air to the fuel tank. Just use an old rag wrapped around a blow gun and air the fuel tank watching for fuel at the lines. Some times these old pumps just loose their prime.

Hi,

Just a thought about something that a lot of people get caught on - including myself. Make sure you have the throttle or fuel pump positioner at least in midposition. If not, the scroll in the pump elements won't be turned and the fuel won't be pumped. If you have to, put it at max position and then try it and confirm the fuel is getting to the injectors.

O.k. I tried both suggestions. I put the fuel to the max position and also took a couple of rubber hoses and rigged up an electric fuel pump inline to the injector pump so that I knew without a doubt that I had plenty of fuel to the pump. I bled the two bleed screws and the fuel will "jet" out of those small screws. But no matter how much cranking there is still no fuel at the injectors. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and see about a rebuild or just a new pump. Thanks for the input. Clyde
