Did the C series come from the factory with the drop box for mfwd as standard or was it optional? We picked one up with the drop box, but is a gas nf and no hydrapower. Might have to start looking for a mfwd for it. Is the only serial number location on the stamped tag riveted under the dash on the right side of the tilt steer pedal? This one is missing the tag and doesn't look like it has ever been there, the 3 little rivet holes don't ever look to have been used either.

No the pinion shaft for a MFWD Was an option. The drop box did not come with that option. Do you have an engine serial number as well as the 3 casting number by the starter? Is this an A, B or C series 1800?

Hi John,
It is '64 C series since it has the tilt/telescope wheel and throttle on the right hand side like the 50 series. I will get the casting numbers by the starter tonight after work. Where is the engine serial # located at? It would be nice to be able to get the build card that would tell us if it came with mfwd and someone had removed it or not.

Thanks
Brad

Okay John,
Behind the starter:
103723A
221020A
240
I could not find any numbers either stamped or cast on the right side by the alternator and believe me I scoured that side.

Oh Oh!. No one wonder you did not find the engine number! 103 723A was the first block used in the 1800 A series tractors and not in many of those!. The engine number will still be on the right rear flange just like a Super 88 would be. I will bet it also has a spin on oil filter behind the distributor and not a can type like a C series would have.!

Yep, spin on filter and MS TSX807 carb. That threw me off too cuz I thought the later ones used the MS USX like the Deeres & 50/55 series did. So it looks like the block has been replaced at some point.

Well, now I wonder if it's still a 265 or made into a 283 and what rpms it will run at since that was also changed for the later series. This keeps getting more interesting all the time.
