1850 Diesel vibration

Just did an out of frame overhaul on an 1850 Diesel. I get a vibration that rattles the hood sides between 800-900 rpm. At idle it isn't there and above 900 it goes away and runs smooth up to full throttle. I've taken out the PTO shaft and it is still there. Still get it with the clutch pedal pushed, so it must be in the motor? I thought I read somewhere about lash in the timing gears that was updated with oil pressure in the later engines. could this be the cause. I bought this tractor as a non-runner with 2 scored pistons so I am at a disadvantage of not hearing it run before. Thanks for any help guys.

New or original harmonic balancer?

I used the original balancer. Splines were good.

I think I would pop me a bowl of popcorn get something to drink like a cold class of water and start thinking. Let us start with the overhaul. What all did you replace, what shop work was done, did you do any fuel system work. How many hours on the engine Are there any dents in the dampner. Have you thoght about a cylinder ballance test?

I replaced sleeves, pistons, rod bushings, Main and rod bearings, Crankshaft was still standard. bushings on the 2 idler gears in the timing case. Oil pump, all valves and springs and ground the seats. Cylinder head resurfaced. Valve depth is within spec. I had the injection pump and injectors gone through. Refaced the flywheel, rebuilt disk and pressure plate, pilot and throw out bearing, new PTO hub and PTO drive shaft. I had the over/under rebuilt with new sprockets and chain. The engine I would guess has around 6000 hrs. with about 2000 hrs. on the previous overhaul. It scored #1 and #6 pistons I would guess that was due to a radiator leak and low on coolant. The dampener looks gook and fit tight on the hub as well as the hub to the crankshaft. I did move the return line that goes back to the front of the fuel tank on the injector rail from #1 injector to #2 to give more air cleaner clearance. That shouldn't change pressure, would it? How do I do a cylinder balance test John?
