1850 hyd. problems

I put my 8rw 7000 JD planter on my 1850 and it lifts about 1/3 of the way before the relief blows, I put a gauge in the remote and it is between 2000 and 2500psi, I tried setting it up on the rh side for one way, full of hyd. fluid and still nothing, any ideas? I have always hated Oliver hydraulics and my admiration isn't growing! They should hasve thrown that hydras electric crap and their interlock valves in the trash and taken a lesson from case or jd on hydraulics!

500 psi is a BIG difference in PUSH. Using a single 4" cylinder the difference in PUSH is over 6000 lbs. (25,120 vs. 31,400). Have you tried a bigger cylinder?

the planter has a big master cyl. 4 or 5inch that pushes oil to 4 slave cyls. on the wheels. Might try adding .010 shims to the relief one at a time.

I think you are not hooking it up correctly. I don't have a planter of that model, but have no problem lifting my large planters with an 1850. Most of those big planters have some way of leveling from side to side and need to be hooked right or the fluid will start pushing against its self and stop lifting.Look and see if you have a master slave cylinder arangement.

I got it working, pulled the stop collar off the front of the cyl and raised then cracked the bleeders, I don't know what the collar does the book said to remove it raise it then replace it any ways barring no further problems hope to start on corn Thurs. still fighting mud in spots. PS- I still dislike their hyd. system!
