1855 cooler pump

I need to replace the front oil cooler pump on a 1855. It is no longer available through agco. I found a similar pump that has the same mounting flange. I installed it and it cavitates very bad. What do I need to do to make this work???? The only difference between the pumps is the original one was a gear pump with a relief valve. The new pump is a gearotor style pump with no relief. Do I need to scrap the tractor because parts are no longer available??????

I think the original pump was regulated very low, maybe 100 psi? When mine went bad I was able to get seals from agco, and then had a machine shop rebuild it. At the time Maibach had a replacement pump but it was expensive. You could call Maibach and see about new, or if you still have old see about rebuilding it.

First of all do you have a high or low mounted pump? Need a tractor serial nuber and a picture here. What happened to your old pump?

At one point Brad Maibach posted an easy solution to this issue. It was to eliminate it. Take the case drain line off the hydraulic pump and plumb it up to the same oil cooler and return. Majority of the hot oil from the hydraulic system is from the case drain from the hydraulic pump. If you get your pump replaced or fix, remember not to overtighten the belt. If you search thru the archives, you will what Brad posted, but that was some time ago.

Thanks guys. I will get in touch with Brad. The shaft is broken on the old pump. The pump I have is mounted on the LH side of the engine and runs off the front pulley.

Did anyone follow through with that? I remember the post, but thought it was more of an idea. If the pump went bad, and case drain became excessive, wouldn"t it blow the cooler apart?
