1917-18 Huber crossmotor

Good afternoon. My grandfather told me a rumor about an old Huber that my great great grandfather sold to a neighbor nearby and we recently went on a hunt for it and found it! The gentleman that owns it said he would be willing to sell it. However, the wheels are completely rusted away on the bottom and the spokes are beginning to rust away also. The brass carberauour seems to be intact, and so do some other parts such as the magneto, the small drive gears for the back wheels, and possibly the radiator. I’m assuming I’d be able to get it for around 300 but I am clueless as to whether that’s reasonable or not. I will include some pictures. Any ideas about what year this tractor is? And is it worth 300$ as a parts tractor and a future yard ornament? Thanks for the help fellas.

What a great find! Not sure of the value but I sure hope you get it. If it had belonged to my great great grandfather I wouldn't flinch at
$300.

So Mark, you're saying I should restore it? You don't think its too far gone? Do you have the contact for pat so I can get an appraisal? And if I were to restore it, where would i get parts?

Also, does anybody know how to tell the difference between a "light 4" and a "super 4"?
from what I can tell so far, the light four was made from 1916-29 and the super 4 was made from 1921-25.

I'd snap it up, before someone else does, if it was my family's tractor. Don't know your
mechanical abilities, but if you are able, it should be restored. You'll probably end up
with more money into it, than you could sell it for, but that's the nature of the hobby.
Just depends on how much sentimental value it has to you. I've restored much worse looking
tractors, than that.

I was watching a couple in an Aumann auction and the ones that needed restored, sold for anywhere from 1200-6000. Some of them came in crates and buckets lol

If it were me, I would snap it up just to have. I would not plan to restore it. That would be 10 yr project and cost a fortune. I might paint it correct
colors for a static display and do what I could to preserve it from any more deterioration.

Look at the date, five years is a long time ago in todays market. Family tractor, buy it.

Why is it not in your yard?????It's worth 3-4 times that..Since it was grandpa's,PRICELESS!. Go get it now.

For any information get in touch with the Huber musieum in Marion Ohio. I think they can help you with several of your questions. They have a nice place there on the fairgrounds.

If you are talking about the fellow in Winesburg those have been gone for a while I think, at least you no longer see them from Rt62

Its probably worth $3,000 or more as just a parts tractor...I recently watched an engine for a early Moline Universal sell for $2800...It was missing the oiler and mag..
