1935 Case L

It was disterbing to me that today I was at an auction with many older tractors, many with parts missing. Many did not get any bids and those were marked with paint with the metal recycling company initials. There appeared to be a Case L, guessing 1935? (rubber all around) that was in very good shape, it was all there just two flat rear tires. Unfortunately it was marked to go to the scrap heap as well. Are these not particuarlly collectable tractors? Or maybe no parts. Geee it just a crying shame that a tractor like that is scrapped. I would try to save it but I have a project going now a Case 511B and I just dont have the room.

Around here, I have seen several scrapped too, and been guilty of junking one myself. Truth is they are just not a desrable type of tractor. They are heavy, you need a good truck and trailer to carry them, and they don't have a "road gear" so driving to town, or any local event is not practical. I have an LA which has the road gear and I live 4 miles from town so if I want to go in a parade or something I can just drive it.

I would love to have a L and LA to restore. If you hear of anything in Ohio, E. PA, or W. IN please let me know. Haven't been able to find something yet. Thanks

Four miles is only a bit over an hour on a L!

My grandfather had both Ls and LAs. Thought the Ls had better spaced working gears.

I have one L and two LAs. Hate to see any scrapped as the parts are useful.

We stumbled onto a 1935 Case L a few years ago and was the best thing that happend to us. We had never even thought of owning an old Case before that but now we are sold on them. It will start on the second or third crank 99% of the time and will pull anything we put behind it. No parades or tractor drives here we use it like it was meant to be used!

It's sad but true. Everybody wants a green turd for the name on the hood or a red one because they're cheap to buy China parts for. Price a complete overhaul on a L/LA or C/D tractor and you'll see why.
