the John Deere A 1940 I got has a shock and coil spring up under the seat all the ones I have seen had a spring down by the plat form is mine a after market add on? also my 1948 John Deere has a steel seat with a coil spring behind it and it is mounted to the origanal seat frame wear the cushons mount and sit thanks for any imput on both types superfarmer72
 
I has one on my 1946 John Deere B. It was aftermarket seat. i took it off and put correct seat because i like the way it came out from factory.

This 1939 Farmall F-30 has a Monroe seat. The Monroe seat must have been pretty popular as there are a lot of them on old tractors. I wonder what bacame of the monroe company?

see several of these and actually save the parts if I can as I have folks ask for them.Dont know who made those,Tractor supply of days gone by,who knows
 
Of course they were popular. All you had to do was spend a day on the "original" seat and you were ready for something else.
