was wondering if someone could tell me if they made a moline garden tractor back in the 1950s. Im hopefully gonna be buying this old relic that sits in front of shed nearby. Its around the saem size as an economy tractor or farmall cub tractor. It has a single cylinder engine and also has front & rear cultivators..Its in rough condition and was wondering if it is worth restoring? Would there be a tag on this tractor somewhere? It has rusty faded yellow paint and the owner who is around 85-90 yrs old tells me it defenitly a moline? what model would it be? Thank you for any help guys.

In the 1960"s MM marketed MM badged Murray lawn tractors with mowers. Most were painted MM Energy yellow. Some were powered by Tecumseh vertical shaft engines. At different times MM marketed Lawn Tractors made by besides Murray, namely Simplicity and other Lawn Tractor Mfg"s.I"m not familiar with any MM Lawn Tractors from the 1940"s if in fact Mm did market them. MM in the first half of the 1940 era was consumed with the war effort as every one else was. The dealers were not furnished with much in the way of farm machinery to sell and an item as frivalous as lawn equipment, in my opinion would not be allowed to be produced by the war board. I hope your machine is in fact from the 1940"s and if of the war period you would have a very desireable collectable. Show us some pictures.

Sorry: I just now see where you posted a "1950's" garden tractor. Man, I must need a vision check.Ignore my ramblings if you wish. JH

I did some google searching and i believe it to be a waterloo bronco from other pics i seen. i will try to get some pics.

John,
All MM lawnmowers were built by Jacobsen. The first model came out in 1962 and was painted brown. Jacobsen also made lawnmowers for Ford during the same time and for Oliver in later years after they stopped making versions for MM. Simplicity made lawn tractors for Allis Chalmers but not for MM. Murray never made an MM mower but I'm not sure who made the White mowers in the 1970's.

Waterloo Broncos have an air cooled 2 cylinder Wisconsin engine model TE. There should be a Waterloo Bronco serial tag on the dash. It should be a model 100.

I gotta agree with BMG all MM garden tractors were built by Jacobsen not by Murray or Simplicity. I am guessing by you descritption you have one of the MM/Avery Tractors I am not real familiar with these tractors there were the V, BF, and BG models they they would be about the size of a farmall Cub or Allis Chalmers B

MM Waterloo Bronco? I've seen a couple at PGR shows, but am unaware of their connection to MM. They have a one-banger engine and are that small.

I think the only connection between Waterloo and MM was that Waterloo distribuited the MM tractors in Canada. I would think they painted the Bronco to match the MM line.

I've read they use an avery V transmission but different drop boxes.

They used 2 different rear end differentials. The early one had no provision for a pto. The later version had the ability to add a pto.
