1945BN Mag Timing

Make a mark on the housing on the cap mount flange at exactly the point that the rotor is located when the impulse snaps. (likely requires a helper). that should be TDC! if not adjust it so it happens at TDC. There are timing marks on the rotor gears to align if they are not. Jim
Yeah, that was part of the trouble I ran into. Someone had sanded/ground the gears and the Mag gear and the intermediate gear have no marks on them. It took a while for me to get it sorted and set up so that the impulse kicked at TDC.

If I remember correctly one or more of the cam gear or governor gear has a tooth beveled off for timing mark. The cam gear will have two marks. One for the crank gear time and another, maybe 2 marks for governor gear timing.
