1946 Model A Electrical System

Hi, When I bought my '46A last summer, it came with a 12-volt battery that is connected to the starter only. There is a generator mounted on the tractor but there is no belt, and no voltage regulator on the generator. The generator is a Delco Remy model 110030 and says 12 volts.

I'd like to wire this up properly so the battery will recharge when I run. Right now I have to charge the battery after every few starts because it isn't recharging without being connected to the generator. I have a couple questions and would really appreciate any input you all may have.

1. Is there a good manual or youtube video out there that can walk me through how a 12-volt system should be set up on a '46 A? My manual doesn't cover the electrical system.

2. Does anyone know of a shop that could take a look at my generator, see if it's still usable, or refurbish it if needed? It would be great if they could also supply a voltage regulator. Preferably a shop in New York's southern tier or nearby.

Thanks so much for your help!

Your generator is a 1100309 12v. Any shop can rebuild it as parts are easy to replace and obtain. A Napa store can get the proper regulator.

Not sure if this guy is close by or not, I highly recommend him ,Strobel's Auto Electric , contact information and location at the following " https://www.mapquest.com/us/new-york/strobels-auto-electric-356553389 "
Or you could just up grade to an AC Del-co 10 SI alternator .

Check, repair, adjust generator with regulator
He will only sell USA regulators which are more money

Take a look at the [b:654c4848f0]Lamps and Wiring[/b:654c4848f0] diagram below.

Note that this diagram is for serial numbers 584000 and above.

If your tractor is earlier than 584000, then disregard the ignition switch, coil, and distributor.

Take a look at the starter switch.

Hope this helps.

Jo Bird, thanks for the info on Strobel's. I ended up getting a reference to a guy pretty close to our farm and took the generator over
there today. I decided to stick with the generator set-up instead of going to an alternator, just to keep it closer to original. Thanks
again!

James, I can't thank you enough! The pictures along with the diagram are very helpful! I really appreciate it!
