1951 DC Propane

My 12 year old son just bought a 1951 DC factory propane tractor. It is a nice running, clean tractor and he is thrilled to have it. We are new to the Case line and we were told that 1951 was the first year that the DC came out of the factory with propane. We were wondering how many DCs came out on propane in 1951, and if production numbers are available to find out where his tractor falls in line with the propane version DCs.
Thanks

In David and Eldon's book no statistics were kept on propane as it was an option. Started in 1951 and was offered as a field upgrade on older models. Don't know if anyone else has access to this type of info or not.

Congratulations on a nice piece of Case history. I don't believe there are any records on how many were sent with the "butane" option, but you don't see very many at parades and shows. It should be a real conversation piece if you do take it out. I was told by the people at Pounds Motor Company in Florida that LP gas was 6 cents a gallon in 1953. Practically free and easy on engines as it runs cleaner too.

Congrats on the purchase, I to have a 51'DC on propane and love it. Had to rebuild the tank valves and the regulator diaphram is leaking but runs great and clean.
