1952 A Starter

Not too hard to rebuild should be able to get brushes at Deere store or Auto Parts stores. Hows your A been running ? I'm getting ready to paint mine..

If your battery is grounded through the battery box, make sure the cable and battery box have a good connection. Might try your ground somewhere else..

its been running pretty good. was measuring for the whellie bars and needed a good flat surface so i pulled it in front of the garage on the cement and my starter problem began. ended up pulling the fly wheel cover off and startin it by hand. if you have never tried that, DON'T.!!! liked to killed me. are you gonna post pics after u get yours painted. always like lookin at old tractors

As you might have seen a couple of weeks back, I needed a starter for my 51A and have found one that will be delivered July 5. I am getting the old one rebuilt IF my rebuild guy can find the parts for the commutator end. If that is so, I will have one for sale..don't know when or if.

If interested send me an email to: [email protected].

PS.. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE BEFORE YOU MESS AROUND WITH THE STARTER!!!

Check the starter switch pull rod to make sure as it pulls up and swings over it's not touching the cable stud and grounding. Mine did it and it was fun to find.
