1954 WD Restoration

My dad purchased the tractor new from Woodward Motor Company in Lewisburg, TN. It is one of the last of the WD"s with the curved shifter and has been garaged its entire life.

I am in my 70s and would like to get this restored.

Know of anyone in the middle Tennessee area that does this? I am aware of possible costs but sometimes sentimentality trumps reason.

My husband just aquired a 1954 Allis Chalmer 45wd.We are going to try and restore it.The last owner switch it from 6 volt to 12 volt.We would like to put it back to 6 volt.The wiring is pretty much gone and Im sure the didnt replace bulb after switching.Does any body have a diagram on the wiring,or know of a place on the web to get one.We have restored old cars but this is our first tractor and we do not know what we are doing.Can anyone help lead us in the right direction please.

After a year of asking around and having no luck this was a "nothing to lose" shot. Thanks anyway.

Since I can"t bring myself to part with it, I will pull it out into the woods and say goodbye. I am sure some day one of the grandkids will sell it for scrap. Which would be kind of fitting considering my dad was the most un-sentimental person I ever knew.

It needs a lot of work. First need to get the shifting fixed so it don't lock up. Then it needs tires on the rear. It sounds like you are going into it big time. I am located by Necedah,wi so if you are not to far away I would give you some business. Les Browning

well it don"t sound to bad I did one about six years ago it was a massey harris 44 I pulled it out of a river water damage isn"t the word for it but I made it pretty and got here goin the man that bought it"s wife still shows it. tires are a big expense Im still shoping for mine there still good but for show I want a matched set. as far as the trans goes is it sticking in gear or locking the wheels up

we have 2 wd and 1 wd45 one wd is for parts mostly there and other im having spark problems the 45 runs and doggs down under a losd
