Wanting to sell a 1955 IH Utility 300 rigged out as a rough terrain
forklift. Used it to unload and feed 1000# alfalfa square bales probably 20 years ago. Hydraulic cylinder is super stout.
Unit has been in covered storage for 20years or longer.
Mechanic has recently rebuilt the distributor and carb. and refurbished the fuel tank(clean and coat). Spent $1600 parts and labor. Transmission ,engine, rubber and running gear are good.
I bought it from a relative for $2000 in 1979 dollars.
Any idea what it might sell for?
Unit is located in Texas...Rusk County.

Hello HG welcome to YT. Has the machine been set up
for reverse operation so you look at the forks
and mast as you set in the seat with the steering wheel at hands reach? A couple pictures
would help with setting a value. Here is a quick
rundown on how to post pictures. I would suggest
putting in one per reply, then maybe two if one works okay.
.. ..Pictures post through the ..Browse or Choose files..
button just below where it says ..Upload
Photos/Videos.. down lowered in the ..New post and reply
windows, see the picture as an example an example of
how the button looks on an iPhone. Clicking that will
give you a choice to select the file or folder the
pictures are stored in on your PC or phone. Then
select the photo from the file and ..Add.. it. They
cannot be pasted into the text area as a file.

I'm thinking you'd be asking alot for it,
if you put a $3,600 (dollars invested)
asking price on it. Especially if the fork
lift conversion is a bit homemade and was a
do it yourself project.

That last round of $1600 worth of parts and
labor, might just be dollars spent that you
might not get back. About the only thing
beneficial from that expense as far as
selling it, is maybe it's a runner now,
instead of a non-runner. You don't cleary
specify here, that it runs.
A buyer isn't going to care if the carb and
distributor have been rebuilt. They are
only going to care about, if those two
items work or not.

I'm not personally a fan of conversions.
But I tried to dis-reguard that, in giving
my opinion here.

A little bit is gonna have to do, with what
your needing to do. Do you need those
investment dollars back? Or are you just
needing it gone, for what you can get out
of it? But bottom line, either way, a
buyers top dollar is only going to be so
much.
