1964 sears suburban

My brother has a 1964 sears suburban 725. The clutch is slipping. any tips I can get on how to tighten it up would be appreciated!!! thank you

I know on a 1969 Sears Suburban 12 is belt driven. There is an idler pulley midway between the engine and transmission that is adjustable. Belts stretch and wear out over time causing them to slip. I have no idea if this will help you with your application but thought I'd try. Good luck.

On this one. Its belt driven but it has a hand clutch. The belt isn"t slipping its the friction drive on the rear pulley. I believe. But I can"t get it apart. thank you though

Your have to remove the small bolts, put a 3/8 ratchet in the sq hole, and turn the center hub nut forward, while holding the outer pulley still. Then put the bolts back in and test. You only want to go about 1/6 of a turn at a time. You will find its probally stuck and you'll need to spray some PB blaster on the hub nut and just let it sit for a while. Let us know how its works out.

Thank you for the info. The problem i am having is holding the pulley still. any advice?
