I have a Cockshutt 1355 diesel and yes it is my first tractor, intended asa working tractor. I have lots to learn.

First as winter approaches, does the 1355 have a block heater? I work with a retired mechanic at a gas bar and he said it did, when he saw a cresent shaped, looked like about 6-8 pin femal plug. If the plug isn't part of the block heater, thgen anyone tell me what it is?

Second if it doesn't have the block heater, any recommendations?

The plug you described is not for a block heater, and I do not know what it is for. A block heater will have a male three prong end like an extension cord.

Doesn't sound like a block heater to me, can you post a picture, I bet somebody on here can ID it.

If you can find a soft plug in the block, most any auto parts store should have a block heater that goes in in its place.

Also remember this is a Fiat built tractor and everything is METRIC. Next it has a starting aid called a thermostarter. Make sure it works good. They help. More questions?

Well actually I am haveing a hard time starting tractor. People are saying that I need a 1000 amps cranking power. Somebody else says that I should clean the flywheel on the starter. A neighbour looked at the starter and there was a blue silicone sealant around the housing. What do you think?
