My local Tractor Supply has some for $25 a gallon. I need spray for my corn, and I have some thistle in my hay fields that I would like to get rid of. The hayfields are a mix of grass and legumes. Could I use this for my both my corn and hay to control the weeds? Or would this kill my legumes in my hay? Thanks in advance.

Don't do it Nate. The 2-4-D will be very hard on the legumes. If the thisle's are bad cnough, you should probably spray them broadcast and sacrifice the legumes. Most times, it is best to clean up a field of broadleaf weeds and then reincorporate the legumes. Another option is "spot spray" them with a hand held sprayer

many hybrids today can't tolerate 2 4 d , a few years ago I sprayed a small 50 ft. long patch of thistles next to the pasture and the corn didn't amount to anything, usually you sprayed corn with amine, pasture with ester and small grain with mcpa, before rr beans alfalfa was one of the few ways to get rid of canada thistle as they couldn't take repeated cutting-3x per year. If they are musk thistles spot spray or use a corn kife.

Forget about the 2-4d in the hayfields. If you have a few thistles, spot spray them with roundup.

there are so many better options to 2,4-D available now. Talk to an agronomist at your co-op or your extension agent or just do a search for alfalfa herbicides,(Ive never used one) and as for corn the 24d wont kill grasses and Im assuming you already know this. The problem with thistle is that it loves nitrogen so obviously growing in an Alfalfa field is just a great spot for thistle.
