2-70 rebuild

An out of frame has many advantages, Install new pin bushings, rod bolts & have seats installed in the head. This is a diesel?

yes, it's a diesel. i would have the head done by a shop. would have new pins and bushings put in. would replace sleeves and all bearings. replace rod bolts? you mean rod bearing cap bolts? please excuse my ignorance.

Make sure you use the one piece pin bushings and when the shop does the head, don't just do a valve job, get all 12 seats installed and the valves set to the correct protrusion. Yes new rod bolts for the connecting rods. If you take the block out and strip it everything can be checked in better detail. More questions. J.

I have done several in-frame rebuilds. It depends on what you want to replace and how much money you are willing to spend and the kind of facilities you have. A few things to remember is be sure your connecting rods are trued up, make sure the crank is within its proper tolerances. Don't just slap the motor together and call it good.

I own a White 2-70. Only paid $500 because the farmer thought that the engine was seized up, but I found out the preheater simply was disconnected. It took me an hour to get it running and drove it home. It came with a cozy cab, which was an aftermaket option for that particular tractor.
