2 PTO shafts.

Hello,

I have a question.

Does anyone know if someone has made a tractor with 2 PTO shafts in the rear end of a tractor ?

I have heard about several tractors with 1 in the rear, and 1 in the side, but how about 2 in the rear ?

are you looking for 2 ptos or two speed ptos? Internatioal has two ptos and they run 2 different speeds 540/1000 some industral John Deeres have two ptos on them for running scrapers. There were some John Deere model Ds that had two ptos but I really don't know the speed. I would think they were 540, they where industrals also. Just what are you looking for/to do?

I mean 2 separate shafts, one on the bottom and one above, in the rear end.

Bill the IHC tractors in the 06,56,66 and 86 series if optioned had two pto shafts protruding from rear. One was 540 rpm and the other 1000 at rated speed. There are probably others also. Tx Jim

International and the industral John Deeres ptos were top and bottom. Really thats the only way they could be for turning reason.

Bill,There were a few (very few) DI John Deeres built with two PTO shafts. If you will give me your E-Mail address I can send a couple of photos of these tractors.

I would like to see these pictures too. Are they original B+W pictures, or a restored example? I've yet to see one that still exists today!

For your info, about the dual PTO on a model D industrial "DI"...I can only look at the original illustrations and pics, but I don't think these shafts had the normal spline pattern seen on a modern 540RPM PTO. I doubt they even rotated at 540RPM, probably a bit slower. I'm pretty sure they could be reversed too. They were used to control the blade angle, etc on a trailing scraper (replacing the hand control wheels seen on most scrapers of the day). It made road scraping a one man operation.

1010 could be ordered with two shafts, one 540 & the other 1000rpm.
The post 125,001 420,430,435 & 440 could be had with either a 540 or 1000 rpm lower shaft. An upper shaft running at engine rpm at the same time was possible if equipped for a trencher attachment.
