guys-just wondering your thoughts on 1970 ford 2000.i have been interested in buying one.anything i should watch out for. thank-you dennis

These tractors came with various transmmission options including a basic 4 speed.

I would not buy a 4 speed version because the ground speed, even in low, is very fast-too fast for some jobs.

The 4 speed versions also do not have live PTO.

Post the numbers of fthe bellhousing and we will tell you how it is configured.

It should be a 3cyl gas or diesel.. and as Dean mentioned.. lots of trans options. the 4spd is the least desireable... all depends on what ya want it for, and the price and condition.

if i just needed a little thing to put around in a parade.. the 4spd wouldn't deter me at all.... now if i wanted to run a rototiller.. then yeah!..

Yeah. If diesel and it's not 30 degrees outside your salesman had better not have to use ether to start it and even then the thermostart should do the trick. Ought to be able to start a cold engine on it's own.

4x2 tranny with Live PTO is the preferred option.

3 pt should lift smoothly and hold with the tractor engine off with a 500# or so load on the 3 pt. Ford 3 pts will hiccup, but with a load of 500+ lbs, that should only be of a slight amount (barely noticeable) and shouldn't do it more than once per couple of seconds.
