Hello, I'm new to fords, had a 35 ferguson for 25 years. and decided to modernize a little and bought a 2000 ford for mowing. The Ser. is 66410 and the model is 21301 S . From what i've gathered on this site it's a 1965 built during the transition period. The hood was buff and the engine and gear case was blue originally. any input on reading the model and ser. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! -ed

Yes this is one of the transition period tractors. I really hate telling guys they have a 1965 2000 when they have one of these because the first thing they think is I am wrong in my info because in 1965 they were building square hood 3 cylinder tractors.

But yours was built in late Feb of 1965. In fact the first one built in March was 66474. These tractors were built from Aug 1962 to Sept of 1965.

Yours is a light industrial model. Basically the same as a Ag tractor but with a solid non adjustable front axle; foot throttle; heavy duty clutch; grease able throw out bearing; and be blue and buff (yellow) in color. These tractors were built as a step up from the ag tractors to accommodate a front end loader better.

John, Hello from Ohio, Thank you so very much for your time and input. You confermed what i was told and showed me how to read the mod. number. It's a sweet tractor and i'm going to like it. I have one more question you may have the answer to. I getting rear end howl in reverse and wanted to know how servicable the reverse idler is and where it's located. I don't mind the noise but I don't want it to fail. Thanks again-ed
