2010 What to look for?

I am looking at a 2010? What are the major problems with this tractor? How does the tranny work, is it like a Case-o-matic? What should I look for or ask about the 2010?

A serial number above the twenty thousands.

NO, it's a "synchro range" partially synchronized manual transmisson.

Major problems were the sleeve-decked block, heads on the diesels, and the hydraulic system, to name a few.

Dont want to make anyone mad but a 2010 was the worst tractor deere ever built.

We had a 2010 on the farm that was a POS from the day it arrived a real money pit. We finally swapped it off for a 2510 that turned out to be a pretty decent tractor. A few weeks ago a neighbor called me to look at a 2010 gas he had bought I went over and he hinted he might swap it for a Chevy 454 engine I have in the barn. I looked his 2010 over and found many of the same reasons we got rid of the one on the farm.
What to look for??? Something else!

Some, well a very few, have liked them. Most don't. I read in one of the magazines that said " the 4020 was the best tractor Deere ever built and the 2010 was the worst".

I have a 2010 diesel for parts. Thats not the purpose of the post. I have had this tractor for some 25 years or thereabouts, and it was a good working machine, (when it ran). Like many others I would advise against purchasing this model. The pump was a big problem, and it was rebuilt two times. Hydraulics were the best I ever used (Landscaping). It was smooth and precise. Never a rpoblem with the trans. It was always hard to start in cooler weather. Buy yourself another model. You won't be sorry.
