I need to make a replacement grill for my 202, I want to use the perforated steel like the original. Anyone know how thick is the plate MF used?
And what size holes?

The plate is .20 inches thick, the holes measure .72 its 18" across and 21" long. There's 17 holes across and 21 holes down and they are offset on the ends, if you need a pic I'll do that.

Could you be a little more specific please ?

LOL Well he does have to make one from scratch. It's also rounded on the bottom corners. Then there's the mounting holes and their bore. Guess I better make a cardboard cutout. Ha Ha

Alright, thank you sir!
Yes I have all the dimensions and made a template already. I know how the piece looks, I just didn't know the thickness and size of holes. I was guessing approximately 3/16" thick with 1/2" holes.

(quoted from post at 21:00:14 12/18/19) Wouldn't hurt to make it out of something thicker, and or make it with more/smaller holes.

I'm hoping to find a piece of scrap perforated steel big enough to work with out buying a new piece. That thick of stock isn't cheap. I found a junk yard that has the factory grill for $150 and then with shipping cost it just seems too crazy so hoped I could make one cheaper and still look close to factory. At least that's my hopes. Lol...

Bo Dawg, do you mind saying where the junk yard is that has the grill? I need one also and it might be worth a trip if it were close by. My tractor is an early 202 and only the grills from early 202s and early 204s will fit so there were fewer of those made. For now I just have a rather thin piece of aluminum that covers the area but provides little protection from a heavy impact.

Its called Nolts in Newville, PA. 717-776-6242

Thank you! They are about 2 1/2 hours from me. I may make a trip to check it out. There are a few other items that would be nice to get if reasonable.

(quoted from post at 15:36:58 12/25/19) Go with 1/4" plate. Didn't measure mine, but it's that thick and heavy...

Plus you've got that FEL pump and filter case and hoses in their to protect.

Yes, that's what Im going to do but cant find any 1/4" perforated steel unless I special order it. I just want a cut off piece of scrap that will fit.
