What is the story on these tractors are they similar to a 2030 ? Where were most of these sold to ? Do they have power steering and a live pto. or are they a stripped down model ? Would this be as good as say a 2440 ?

Same tractor except better. Precision built in Mannheim with German engineering and standards.Manufactured for the European and Canadian markets.
The Dubuque stuff is slapped together by highschool dropout union American workers.
Aproximently half of the 20,30 and early 40 series were built in Mannheim. The entire later half of the 40 series and all of the 50/55 series were built in Mannheim.
I've made a lot of proud American owners of "American Tractors" awful angry.Just by wiping the grease off the serial # plate and them seeing the word Mannheim.

DO YOU HAVE ANY STATISTICS TO BACK UP YOUR STATEMENT
?????????????????? What change of engineering did the Germans make to the hyd system from the ones built in Dubuque?

Well, I hate to pi$$ in your Cheerios, but Germany has the most Unionized work force in Europe. To top it off, most of the European unions were founded and influenced by the Communists, who were all the rage in Europe during the early 20th century.....and I'm not talking about the Soviet regime established in the DDR, post WW2. The phrase, 'Workers Unite!' was one of their most popular slogans. And sad to say, the Communists also had their supporters here in the 1930's. Any time somebody will promise a stupid man a job, he'll jump on the bandwagon.....and during the Depression, that wagon was full. Sorta like this last election...."why he's for CHANGE, that's why I'm a votin' for him."

Anyway....if you will apprise yourself of history, you will find the German worker and workforce is not superior to ours, nor was von Braun's rocket technology applied at the Mannheim tractor works. Whatever emerged from the Mannheim works, were mostly the products of JD engineers, here in the USA. Oh one more thing.....lots of those Kraut made tractors had French built engines in them.

my dad has a 2130 and i must say that i do not think you can get a better tractor that is that age and two wheel drive. As long as you have the traction it can pull like mad. my dad said before he got the tires loaded and the loader on it he could squeal the tires on pavement if he wanted to.(he tired it a few times) he has an Allied 595 loader on in and it is a great combination. I have no experience with the other tractors you mentioned but i think the 2130 would be better. 6 more hp that both others and it has the 239ci instead of the 219ci that the 2030 and 2440 have. the 239s where still used in the 6300 and 6200(www.external_link) althought with modifications. my dad told me the 239 is better than a 219. personally i would rather have the 2130.

Good one guys.I have wondered what that grumpy old man does for fun. Be happy & positive, you seem to know Most of your stuff on here & I thank you for that,ok?

Saran France is where the engines were/are built.
Relax.I was yanking the guy's chain after he was looking for confirmation that a 2130 was a piece of crap.It gets tiring hearing that same old line. Right along with the silly statement that US dealers can not obtain parts for 2130's etc.
