2150 fuel problem

2150 FWD with farmer's cab (including auxiliary tanks) getting air somewhere into the system. It has been an operator plus shade tree-mechanic partnership all day to repeatedly prime and bleed fuel system to keep the 2150 in the field. Arrggghhhh!!!!!

Have checked, rechecked all fittings (or couplings), to even refit a couple fittings with Teflon tape. Have blown out lines to make sure auxiliary tank vents are open. Have checked mechanical fuel tanks valve. Have replaced first primary fuel filter. Dumped second filter out, found no foreign mater coming out, and put it back on the 2150.

Have perhaps one could be problem with the priming pump plunger (or pump handle) leaking about its rod base where it enters the fuel priming pump body?

All the books we have, we’ve found no break down either in operators manual, repair manual nor the parts manual.

I would appreciate any diagrams, breakdown, pictures, drawings, bulletins, updates, etc.

Email open for whatever's available?

Many Thanks

No I hadn't.
Don't think I've got s pressure guage that'll work for this use. What is the ideal pressure you speak of?
What I am concerned with for the most part is the lift pump supposed to leak?
Then a breaking down exploded view of the pump. Is there a replaceable "O" ring seal the plunger rides up and down against?

Close off the fender tanks and fill the main tank full. Be sure to switch a the non-vented cap in the main tank with a vented cap. If you have what you think is an air leak, the fuel should now run out wherever it may be sucking air. At least run it and see if it still shuts down since gravity should be forcing the fuel to the pump. You could also cap off the return and pressurized the feed line from the tank with about 15psi and see if fuel sprays anywhere. There is a seal that can be replaced on the hand primer. That may be enough to cause your problem. The fuel transfer pump is a gear pump on the back of the injection pump. There is a plug for the relief valve on the side of that transfer pump. There is a spring and plunger inside. The plunger maybe stuck open/binding causing fuel just to reciculate around in the transfer pump and not make it to the injection pump. I used some parts off a 466 IH pump to repair out 2150 when the flyweights started slipping on the governor shaft. Its been about 5 years since I messed with ours. It runs and starts good with those military pistons in and 190 hp. Good luck and let us know what you find.

I sent you an e-mail but do you have the new style fuel filters? How about the injection pump? Is it a Bosch PSJ yet or has it been converted to a Bosch model 100
