2150 vs. 2255

I've been around the 1950-T's and 1755's but haven't operated any of the bigger tractors. Just kind of wondering what you guys would rather have. The 2255 is the more known tractor over the 2150. Which tractor do you guys think would be a better all around tractor? Did the 2150 have more lugging power? Please post your comments on which you like better and why. Did they 2150 have the old style brakes or is it like the 2255? Just a fun topic to discuss. thank you.

OK I have a 2255. It has a V8 cat diesel and you must keep the RPMs up if you want to pull anything. It is a strong tractor. Due to the short engine it turns pretty tight.
The 2150 has a 6 cylinder diesel that is the same as in the White 135/155. Being a 6 I suspect it lugs much better then the 2255. However I also suspect the engine is long enough that it does not turn real sharp abd yes it will have manual brakes vice he 2255 hydraulic ones.

We have both a 2255 and a 2150 4wd. I like the 2255 better. Can't say about the 3150's, but the 3208's will lug decent to about 1700 RPMs. The 3208 Cat has 636 or (573? for 3150) cubes compared to a 478 hercules in a 2150 so it has alot more low end grunt. The 2150 has good torque around 1800 Rpms. The 2255 has better hydraulics. Both have triple disc brakes while the 2255 are actuated by hydraulics as well as the PTO. Both weigh about the same too. When worked they use about the same fuel. Cooling system wise, the 2150 radiator isn't quite large enough, while the 2255 stays cool all day long no matter how hard you work it. If you want to compare stock tractors, I'm not the one you want to talk to. Our 2255 is about 230 Hp while the 2150 is around 190. Both are easy to make more HP. I like both, but am partial to the 2255.

Hi,we also have both tractors, both are near stock. 22 is an easier driver, and has much nicer cab.But cant say as I like the hydraulic brakes and pto at all.Working it chopping hay or corn on a hot day,it will get warm.Seems to be a little more thirsty than the 21 too.It has the 3150 in it.The 21 is lots more stable if you are using 3-point implements, and will lug better in my opinion.Neither has front weights on them and the 21s not near as bouncy on rough ground. They work about 600 acres every spring, and then on the chopper for silo filling, and sometimes a little fall tillage if we get to it after harvest. All in all I`d call them pretty equal for what we use them for.My two cents worth.

i have a 2050 and i used to have a 2255 and i would have to say that the 2050 has the most lugging power, but the 2255 was more of a everyday tractor it can do pretty mush every farm task oout there. If you are to be pulling a plow the 2150 would eaisily handle a 5-16 plow

Have you considered looking at a 2-135 instead? The 2-135 seem to go for about the same money as a 2255 and in my humble opinion, is much much more tractor. I looked at some 2255's before I bought our 2-135 and really liked the way the 2-135 drove and the feature improvements that were made. Plus, if you want better fuel economy in the future, dropping a cummins in is very easy!
