220 Spra Coupe

Looking to get a carb kit for a 220 Coupe with the Pierburg carb.. anyone have a good place to get one from? I'm assuming my local Agco dealer can get one, but didn't know for sure.

I just went through the same thing with my 215 sprayer. Carb was gunked up from water in the gas. No carb kit was available. New carb was about $950.00. Vacuum choke pull off was another $200.00. Took it to the carb shop and they cleaned it up, made a new gasket, and set the choke best they could. Got it running but was too late for spraying season. The carb on the VW industrial engine is different than the ones on the cars. Very few were made, that is why they are so expensive.

VW will be of no help.. automotive VW's weren't 4 cylinder engines, and the industrial VW out of a Coupe is of another breed. I think the Pierburg carb is a breed all it's own as well. May have to take it to my local rubber&gasket and have them cut me a new gasket and just take it apart and clean it well instead of a kit. Will keep looking.

Have you had it apart; they're pretty simple. I used one for a lot of years.......after having a 120 for a long time. I had to take mine apart every Spring........took less than a half hour. Typically, I'd quit using it in July or August and it wouldn't be started again 'til March and moisture would condense in the carb and it wouldn't run 'til it was cleaned out. I don't remember having to replace gaskets/any parts, but it's been a long time ago.

We had a Spra Coupe, can't remember the number, maybe 210 or 215. It had a Ford Industrial engine in it. We had carb problems. Very expensive to get fixed. Water pump went out, very expensive to get fixed. Last thing was the distributer. Something like $1100 to get one ordered in. Think it was a Bosch, so it had to come from Germany I think. Said it would take 6 months to get it here. Took it to a machine shop and got a bushing made for it to finish out the year. Didn't use it again.

Look on Ebay in Germany it is a pierburg 1b3 carb 1 barrel and the 3 means automatic choke they put them on some cars in germany (use google tanslator and contact seller first some or maybe most will not ship to the US) the prices sell for 36-39 euros i bought one for 10 euros but its hard to get some(most) to send it that the big problem agco charges 300 for kit there is not much to it (the german ag mofia must control this product)
