My Dad has been using a 226D with a backhoe all summer. He called me up tonight and said when he went to move it after digging it would not move in high range. When he put it in 2nd it would move. Any thoughts... Thanks Paul

There's a three-range lever on the floor, and a three-speed lever to the left of the dash. I assume you're saying that when he pulls the floor lever into "3" there's no connection. If so, is he sure the floor lever is all the way rearward solidly into "3" and the dash lever is firmly into gear 1?

I rarely use the top gear range -- because starting off is so hard on the clutch -- more so with the weight of a hoe. And if the hoe is attached directly to the rear hitch and nothing's snapped, you're lucky.
