263 stroker

Hi guys, wondering how much stroke I can put in a ih263 and be reliable. In a 301 block a 5.5 inch stroke you have to notch the side of the block. is a 263 block thick enough for that, or do I have to run a smaller stroke. any advice would be very helpful

It all depends on what you are using for rods

I built a 301 block using a crank with a 5" stroke and was able to clear it using the stock rods, but it was a challenge. Anything much over 4.75 stroke you have to grind in the block, on the cam and on the rods. I believe a 263 and 301 block would be the same seeing as though they have the same stroke.

if I had to get custom rods I would. The least amount of grinding in the block the better
