going to do a valve job this winter. how much can you shave off the head on a 273 budah with out running into trouble.might regrind cam.does any one know what size dowle rod to use to hold up the lifters.might be interested in buying an allis 262 any leads would be appreciated

Are you thinking of using the 262 crank in your 273? If so I would make the added compression with the pistons instead of upseting your valve train geometry. Use the push rods and rubber bands instead of dowel rods.

yeah maybe if i could find a crank.hard to find!havent hard about pushrods and rubberbands can you explain

262's are plentiful and easy to find. The cranks are the same gas or diesel, so are the blocks. The only real difference is early engines have the water pump on the head, while the later ones are on the block. Colfax Tractor Parts in Colfax Ia will have several to choose from.

Yes, Mr Schwiebert please elaborate on the use of pushrods with rubber bands to hold the lifters....many of us would like to know. Thanks
