I was looking for a smaller tractor but found a 2950 with 4000 hours, owned by a little old lady who only drove it on Sunday. Only partly kidding. She"s 86, husband died 7 years ago, and it has only been lightly used, especially since then. Block heater and probably never had ether. Son-in-law used a bush hog to mow the fields. That"s about it. Always shedded, looks good, starts easy. I know about the liner pitting problem and will change the coolant and add a filter if available. Any comments on this tractor? Thanks.

I used to own a '86 2950 tractor,it was very
strong and had a 359 engine.I owned it for about 5
years and sold it when my dad quit farming.
The weakest thing about these tractors is the
clutch,I had my local John Deere dealer install
a new one before I sold it.

2840 was the first of the "big utilities", and didn't make many friends. 2940 and then 2950 are much better tractors. Sounds like you found a honey...
