A gentleman from another forum was telling me about a "Zane Thang" for a Ford 2n to give it draft control. Not sure what it is and where I can get one. Anyone heard of it?

Thank you

Brett;
Yer 2N already has Draft Control! The "Zane Thang", provides "Position Control" to the 9N/2N Fords.
I use one of those on my 2N, and they work good!!!

Go here, for Zanes Web site:

Heard of them-Yes--got two-one on my 2N and one in the corner of my Dad"s shop -was going to put on his 2N but never got aroundtuit--never tried one out but everyone says they are the best thing since tomato gravy.

(quoted from post at 18:25:15 06/24/12) Thank you. I tried the site but seems to be down now. I am very interested in the details on this.

Thank you

It's an external linkage that connects the right lift arm and the 3pt control lever:
  • [*:1406652c54] When the lift arm raises it pushes the control lever down.[*:1406652c54] When the lift arm drops it pulls the control lever up.[/list:o:1406652c54]Essentially the same thing the internal position control linkage on the 8N's and later tractors do. Zane prefers that no pictures be posted to prodect his IP.

I have one on my '45 2N and it works very well. Only takes a few minutes and no special tools to install. Zane's web site is down right now, but keep trying.

If I make this trade and get the 2n, I will order one and try. Would prefer a picture of what it would look like, I do better with pictures. Thank you and very anxious to try it.

If I done it right you should be able to see the Zane Thang on my tractor. The 2 ball is not part of zanes thang I put it on there so people would quit askinf 9n or 2n.

Already a few knock-offs floating around where others have tried to copy my idea.
got one hangind on a shelf in my office that a man sent me after he bought one of mine since the one he had bought off Ebay didn't work and he wanted me to see it. Beautiful machining etc. but won't actually work. I had considered something similar when I was thinking of my device to give feedback to the touch control but didn't see how it would be practicle. I was right!

Have had a "thang" on my '41 9N for many years. Best accessory you can get for a working 9N.

Brett...

Like I said many times before!!!

It's the best thing since sliced bread, Get It!

NO ARGUE!!!

BTW,

make sure your draft control plunger spring is nice and "TIGHT", no loosee goossee or you will have your heavy implements bouncing around on you... very dangerous when a heavy duty post hole digger flails around on you... don't ask.

The Concerned,

Greg

zane, my 9n lift won"t go down sometimes...

how will the "thang" react when this problem of mine occurs?

i need to repair or replace the control valve, but i have bigger fish to fry right now.
