2N Drawbar

I just removed a sickle mower off a 1947 2N that was on since new. Are there any drawbars out there with out a 3 point hitch? I wasn't necessarily interested in buying a whole 3 point system since I have 2 other 8N's that I can plow with, etc. I know there are ones for 8N's, but the 2N's don't have the mounting bracket. I just would like to rake hay and pull wagons with it. Thanks.

with a 2n your pretty much limited to the 11 hole drawbar,or one that clamps on lift arms . but both need the stay bars.the problem is the 2n was not drilled for the bracket underneath that a 8n has,and the bosses that you could drill are not there to my knowledge. to my knowledge there are no fixed type drawbars for the 9-2ns you can use without the staybars.you really need the staybars,swaybars,and a drawbar lock, or pretty much the whole setup.YOU CAN,build a sort of loop type drawbar that pulls off the fender mounting bolts.and they work ok, but are a real pain to take on and off.dont loose any parts for your mower,folks on here looking for parts/brackets and such all the time.i would like to have a side mount myself.

I made mine out of square tubing and it hooks up to the three point with limiter chains---cost me time, welding rod, scrap tubing and a trailer receiver hitch (got one at the junk yard for 5 bucks). it hooks up to all three points so you don't have to worry about it rotating--comes in pretty handy.

Sickle bar mower on it since new??? That would be hard to believe but then does not matter for your question. As for any factory/after market set up for a draw bar your pretty much stuck with the 3 point set up. But that said there have been a few creative set ups that I have seen over the years like a set up that bolts to the same place that the fenders bolt one and then a bar across that etc. I could almost build one in my sleep if I wanted to but have no need to

even with the reciever hitch type,you really need staybars or something to hold arms down.a wagon tongue can climb right into seat with you,and a heavy loaded wagon can bend staybars and do it anyway.if i were to pull a wagon a whole lot with a 9-2n i would use the 11 hole bar with stabilizers.and build a bracket out of heavy square tubing that would just fit where top swaybars fit and weld a plate on bottom with holes to bolt on 11 hole drawbar.and another hole for hitch.the reason ferguson used the stay bars at each end was so you could run pto shaft at same time as using the drawbar.of course you could cut ends off factory staybars replace center section with heavy square tubing and likely be safe. but dont think for a second that factory staybars will 100% keep arms from raising,i can introduce you to my cousin who had his back broken, and has been on the disabled list for some time,he thought they couldnt bend.

agree with you on that one---move the heavy stuff with the case or jd- mine comes in handy for moving the boat around.

people have pulled with them, but due to the gearing, not the most popular choice--can't say it's not fun though.

Yes the sickle mower was on since new, it has been in our family starting with my great grandfather. I guess we will go ahead and purchase the 3 point arms and stabilizer bars. Thanks everyone for your input.
