2nd post Miller welder

I have another question that I forgot to ask on the other post, can I get a spool gun and change gasses and use the Miller 330 AB/P to mig weld with? Please don't tell me to go somewhere and read up on it, I can't concentrate that long...the thoriated rod probably got me...grin. Thanks, ohfred

2% thoriated tungstens are still very popular but there are ceriated and lanthated tungstens now. Pure is mostly used on aluminum with a conventional type machine like yours. I haven't done a lot of TIG so don't know about the relatively new types of Tungstens.

You could hook up a spool gun to your machine but it would probably be pricey because you need a seperate control box for it as well. I don't know if the contactor for the TIG could be used with a spool gun or not. The best thing to do is contact Miller directly for technical support and they can tell you what all you need to hook up a spool gun.

First spool gun I ever ran was on a Miller 330A/BP, no way in the world am I going to remember any details, because that was in the mid to late 1970s. As Stick welding says, contact Miller. Or, on Welding Web and the Miller sites there is a guy that goes by duaneb55 he has a welding repair shop in Texas, Duane may be able to set you up real cheap!
