300 head on an H

Picked up an H a few weeks ago, engine was rebuilt with firecrater pistons and a head off of a 300. Is there a difference on the breather setup between the orig. H head and the 300 head? There is the line from the governor housing to the head and there is a line from front to rear under the valve cover with a small hole in it. How should this be set up?
Thanks
Ben

On a 300 head a short pipe was used in the front breather hole under valve cover, with the opening for breather line to air cleaner located in top of valve cover. No line over rocker arms was used. On a H and SH the overvalve line with a line to air cleaner located in the rear of head was used. If you have holes in head for rear line its probably not a 300 head. Could be a later replacement head that fit H through 350 though.
Does the head have a casting #?

The head has the part # stamped into it, 175184X1. Its the later gas head for an H. The guy I bought the tractor from bought the head thinking it was a 300 head, guess not :? Tractor runs very strong, dyno'd at 47 hp last week, just need to fix a few little problems, rewire it and paint it before hay season hits.

The number you posted looks like the engine serial number. Most times the head # is on top of head under valve cover. 4 numbers ending with DA,DB,DC,DD (etc) or 6 numbers ending with R1, R2 (etc).
