3010 JD timing issue

I have A 3010 Diesel. Ran fine until it didn't. Long story short I fixed and or replaced several thing,. Starter selonoid, cables, Injectors have be checked and test ok. The tractor will turn over but will not start. Checking the timing of the injector pump and it seems off. I read in my manual that I set it 10 degrees before TDC. When I line that up,. The injector pump line are now where close....I pulled the pump and rotated the shaft to line up,. Reinstalled. So it's is set 10- TDC,. Injector pump is lined up. I crank the starter,. It will not start. Re check the timing and it again is now we're close again. So I'm assuming I have a timing issue and that's the reason or a reason it will not pop. But why will the pump not stay tuned? Am I looking at a rebuild of the injection pump? Or am I missing something?

(quoted from post at 18:47:01 08/30/20) When did it run last, and why did you do all these repairs?
..

Well I just finished mowing a 3 acre pasture. The was driving over to another pasture about 6 miles away. Had it in road gear 8. As I was driving over I started to loose power. It felt like a brake was dragging. I depressed the clutch,. The engine rpms went back up. I let up on the clutch and it slowed again. I figured now way was I going to make it over to mow. Stopped the tractor to turn around and the engine died and would not restart. Out of habit I dropped the 1500 lb flail mower on the 3 pt. Processed to walk around the tractor. Gave the radiator hose a squeeze and ran my thumb right though and all the anti frees went right in the road. Had to use the starter to get the 3 pt up. Drug it home. Fixed the hose. Replaced all filters. Went to start and ....click...click. click... Starter would not turn over. Pulled the selonoid off. Checked. Yup bad... Probably burned it up lifting the 3pt. Replaced. Now it will crank over. But will not start. So processed to pull the injectors and took them to a diesel place. They are fine. Put them back in. Reading other posts I found a thread on timing. Checked mine. It seemed close. I adjusted a little bit. Still no start. Re checked the timing and it was way. Off. Not even in the window. So I just now pulled the pump again. Lined up the timing lines and will try again... I did this on Friday too and this morning after cranking it over a few times I found the timing off again.

just tried to start again. Turned over for about 5 seconds and rechecked the timing. It out again. The lower line on the injector pump is not in the window at all

(quoted from post at 20:04:43 08/30/20) I never would start on the road with
such a running tractor....

Um.... It was running fine until about 30 seconds before it quit... So not sure what you mean I guess...

Get the pump rebuilt either shaft is sheared or twisted governor ring probably broken head alignment pin may be sheared or worn off

It is a 4 stroke engine. Did you turn it
over 1 revolution to check the timing
again after you lined up the flywheel
timing mark before you pulled the pump?

Every other revolution should line up
the marks.

I did not realize that. So I rotated the engine another full rotation and the lines line up. So is it possible that when I put the pump back in I did so 180degrees off and it's not timed right?

I'm not a diesel expert, but what you're describing as the original problem sounds like a plugged injector pump return.

2nd fossil on pump rebuild ... if it is losing timing cranking something is up with the pump ... hope you got timing right first time or shaft is gonna be busted for sure
