Could someone tell me what the industrial equivalent would be of a 3010 row crop tractor,thank you for any help,Al

Do you know the differences between a 3010 wheel tractor and a model 500?? Due to the fact I worked for an agriculture only dealer I have very limited knowledge of industrial tractors.

* Frame
o Rails larger and stronger
o Holes drilled in different pattern from agricultural versions

o Frame extends farther back onto transmission case than ag versions
* Tread size fixed
* Larger rear axle housings, with better bearings and axles
* Heavier Front axle
* Steering-Uses frame mounted hydraulic cylinders, not motor

o Right lever shift through all gears

Now I'll ask again do you or anyone know why JD built 2 units so close to the same spec's?? The model 500 has a lot of the same features.Here's a few I researched. Both the 500 & 3010W utilize the Waterloo 4 cyl engine. Parts photos taken from PC 860 - JD500 Tractor - 31Jul06

I couldn't say for sure, but looking at the Tractordata website (http://www.external_link/industrial-tractors/000/0/2/23-john-deere-500.html) it lists the 500 as a variant of the 3020, which came after the 3010. As I recall, the 3010/4010 series were built only between 1961-1963, and the 3020/4020 series followed in succeeding years. I also noted that the HP on the 500 is 80, while the 3010/3010 Wheel was about 60.

Since you mentioned the 3020 I think you're correct. Yes because I just checked the pto speed change gears on the 500 and it's the same as 3020
500 = 3020
600 = 4020

To the best of my knowledge the industrial equivalent of a an agricultural 3010 was just still labeled as a 3010. I know a gentleman with an industrial 3010 backhoe and it is labeled as such. As far as I know the change to the 20 series agricultural series is when the change to the hundred series industrial also occurred

Now that I think about it, Deere also planned to offer a 3010 Track as well as the 3010 Wheel. Both were to have been industrial models with the extra strength, etc. I believe they only made one 3010 Track, and never marketed any of them. There were only a few hundred 3010 Wheel models made in each of the three years, 1961, 62, 63.
