Thanks Bob and gerald for your imput. I had the carb rebuilt at burry carb a few years ago.and neglected to mention that. I did change the plugs around and seems to fire on center cylinders but not as well on the back cylinders. I think i will try autolite 3316's instead of ac c87'and see if that helps. thank you guys again. Bob
 
And did you adjust the mixture after the carburetor rebuild? The book setting is just close enough to get it to run and you have to adjust it right. Black smoke is too much fuel or too little intake air, something is set wrong or the air is restricted. Mud daubers love intake pipes.
