I was working on a customers gas 3020 and noticed that parts offers two thermostats. The 3020 is an early 3020 with the controls on the dash. According to my engine serial number it originally took a 160 degree thermostat. That thermostat subs to a 180 degree thermostat. However, there is a special purpose thermostat for 160 degree available. It is not in my serial number range. However, the thermostat body is the same. So my question is should I put in the 180 degree thermostat and what is the special purpose thermostat for? The thermostat that came out is stamped 160 degree. Thanks.
